Maoist leader Surrendered in Wayanad District

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan handed over a check of Rs 3,94,000 as part of the rehabilitation of the Maoist leader who surrendered in Wayanad District last year. The function was held at the Chief Minister's office in the Assembly building. The CM also handed over the keys of the house rented to stay in Ernakulam district till he builds his own house in the Life project as part of the rehabilitation project.

The district level rehabilitation committee headed by the Wayanad district Collector had recommended to provide housing, employment, stipend and other livelihood to rehabilitate the 37-year-old Maoist leader who had given up the armed struggle and surrendered. The action was taken after the state police chief requested the government to take necessary action accordingly.

After a long period of work in the Maoist organization, Lijesh realized its futility. He then came to know about the government's Maoist surrender policy and surrendered before the Wayanad district Police Chief on October 25th 2021.
